Next 11th of February celebrates the International Day of Woman and Girls in Science. This event denounces the obstacles that women are still experiencing in scientific field and helps to make scientists and technologists women visible providing research female role models to promote equal access and participation of women and girls in science.
Science and gender equality are essential for sustainable development, for this reason, it is essential for the university environment look forward to guarantying full and effective equality.
In this sense, University of Barcelona, through the vice-rectorate for Equality and Gender and Research, joins this Day organizing several activities that may be viewed in this website.
CCiTUB along with Commission for Equality and Social Action (CIAS) wants to contribute to giving visibility and voice to women who are part of the university community, introducing technologists from the Center. On this account, we have prepared some videos where woman experts of the CCiTUB laboratories explain their work in the university, their motivation to choose this professional career and share one of their scientific women of reference.
The videos will be available from Friday 11th and will be published in this site and through the Center’s social media along the whole month.
Moreover, scientists women of the Center will participate in 100tífiques project organized by Fundació Catalana per a la Recerca i la Innovació (FCRI) and Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), with collaboration of the Departament d’Educació de la Generalitat de Catalunya. This project consists in simultaneous talks in several schools around Catalonia.
