New edition of NanoEduca for middle school teachers

Today, 7th of July begins a new edition of NanoEduca which is coordinated by Dr. Jordi Diaz, responsible of SPM nanobioscience techniques (AFM, STM) technology of the CCiTUB and where also participate Mr. Gerard Saborit from the same technology and Mr. Juan Mendoza, technician of TEM applied to materials technology. The event is organized by: the Universitat de Barcelona (through CCiTUB and Nanodivulga UB), the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the ICN2 (Institut Català de Nanociencia i Nanotecnologia), the CESIRE (Centres Específics de Suport a la Innovació i la Recerca Educativa) and also collaborates the CCCB (Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona).

NanoEduca proposes six sessions for middle school teachers, mainly from the areas of science, technology and mathematics.

The training begins in CCCB, where is being held the exposition “Human+. The future of our species”, which will be contained in the program Nanoeduca for this next course. Students will work in increasing human capabilities starting from nanotechnology, and around this activity different topics will arise like the boundaries between the natural and the artificial as well as ethical and philosophical aspects about human identity.

The first session takes place today, 7th of July, with the participation of nearly 100 schools. 24 of these schools will be selected to attend the rest of sessions.
