The Nuclear Magnetic Resonance laboratory (RMN) of the CCiTUB was recognized as ICTS in 2002. In 2018 was joined by two new nodes (Manuel Rico NMR Laboratory of the IQFR-CSIC in Madrid and Euskadi NMR Laboratory of the CIC-bioGUNE) creating the Bio-molecular Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Laboratory (R-LRB).

The laboratory has nine RMN instruments distributed among three laboratories, located in the Chemistry Faculty, Pharmacy Faculty and the Cluster building of the Barcelona Science Park (PCB). The laboratory is available for researchers and companies that need to use its installations, or advice in areas such as structure and dynamics of biomolecules, functional biology, identification and optimization of drugs for research purposes.

How to access

Two modalities are offered to gain access to the R-LRB ICTS services in CCiTUB:

  1. On-demand access: access to the ICTS equipment is the same as for any other service offered by the CCiTUB. Firstly, it is necessary to register as a user of the CCiTUB and then contact the NMR laboratory to request the service.

  2. Competitive Open Access: access to infrastructures will be regulated through a public "Access Protocol" that describes the mechanisms and access criteria and that will be regulated by an external scientific committee through a independent and transparent evaluation process.

Open competitive access

The LRB (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Laboratories at the University of Barcelona) node of the CCiTUB offers competitive open access to public or private research centres and companies. The competitive open access is regulated by an external scientific committee through a transparent and independent evaluation process.

The call is permanently open. To gain access to the ICTS, the user must complete the LRB Access Application Form. If the applicant is not sure about the most appropriate instrument, he or she may contact TEM or RMN staff for advice on which is the most adequate instrument for the measures to be done.

The proposal obtained through the online Access Application Form will be evaluated by the Access Committee, which is composed by independent experts in the technics that are offered by the CCiTUB. The Access Committee will evaluate the technological and scientific quality and viability of the proposals received.

User will receive an email with the approval/rejection of the proposal. Rejection of a proposal will always be accompanied by a report written by the referees of the access committee outlining the reasons for rejection. Where appropriate, the report will also include recommendations and suggestions for improvement and resubmission of a new proposal for accessing to the ICTS equipment.
