During last 30 years, science and technology have made an effort to manipulate matter at atomic scale and take advantage of the extraordinary properties that are at this level. Currently, there is a great number of economic investments and consumer products available in the market derivated of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (N & N).
In this context, appeared on stage the nanotechnologies, a system that comes to revolutionize the future, and wihch now offers improvements on energy generation, electronics, medicine, water purification and development of new materials, among others. Nanotechnology is precisely the result of this process of innovation, allowing to control tiny scales thanks to the joint efforts of chemists, physicists, engineers, doctors and biologists.
These new developments, like any technology, have different social aspects that must be considered for having a successful and relevant advance: Who decides which applications are supported and which are neglected ?, nanotechnologies are used to meet the needs of the society that supports them? we are prepared to face the new risks that bring nanotechnology?
It is necessary to establish clear strategies for nanotechnology divulgation, establish a "nanodialogue" which approximates all aspects related to the opportunities and implications of nanotechnology.
The conference aims to involve the audience in order to promote ultimately constructive dialogue and understanding of the potential impact of nanotechnologies.
