Participation of the CCiTUB in the Nanoday organized by the FCRI

CCiTUB participate today in Nanoday, a virtual seminar organized by the Fundació Catalana per a la Recerca i la Innovació (FCRI) and entitled: “Reptes empresarials i nanotecnologia: La innovació amb impacte”. This multisectoral seminar will have the participation of more than 30 entrepreneurs, managers and researchers from sectors such as food, health, water treatment and cosmetics.

The welcome and presentation of the day will be made by Mr. Jordi Portabella, general director of the Fundació Catalana per a la Recerca i la Innovació, Mrs. Mònica Roca, president of the Barcelona Chamber of Comerce and Mr.Lluís Juncà, director general of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the Generalitat.

PhD. Jordi Díaz (responsible of the Nanometric Techniques Unit of the CCiTUB and scientific coordinator of the conference) will moderate the round table "Impacte de les Nanociències en els ODS: ètica, salut i seguretat laboral, sostenibilitat" which is included in the presentation of the "Llibre blanc de les nanotecnologies". This book, coordinated from the CCiTUB by Dr. Díaz, aims to be a reference in ethics and to start a discussion in the discipline, and is also a positioning paper on the multidisciplinary field of nanotechnologies and its impact on various specific thematic areas (ethical, social, legislative, economic, educational, etc.). Mr. Joan Mendoza (head of the TEM Unit applied to materials of the CCiTUB) will also participate in the table.

The CCiTUB have always considered it of great importance not only to value the technical part but also to strengthen the ethical side of science and technology. For this reason, these considerations have been gradually incorporated into the services they offer to their users and the actions they carry out as an organization.

The ACCIO report entitled "Nanotecnologia a Catalunya", in which the CCiTUB have collaborated, will also be presented at this seminar. This report will provide an overview of the different Hubs and trends in nanotechnology, as well as the mapping of centers and “hotspots” in nanoinnovation in Catalonia.
