New FACSDiscover S8 Instrument at the Bellvitge Campus
The Scientific and Technological Centers of the University of Barcelona (CCiTUB) have incorporated a second FACSDiscover S8™ advanced flow cytometry instrument into the facilities of the Cellular Analysis Unit at the Bellvitge Campus.
The FACSDiscover S8 combines the capabilities of spectral cytometry and cell sorting with the ability to acquire images of the analyzed cells. This technology enables advanced studies in areas such as immunology, immuno-oncology, cell cycle analysis, cell-cell interactions, and work with complex samples, contributing to the development of high-level research projects.
The Cellular Analysis Unit provides services across different campuses of the University of Barcelona. Until now, the FACSDiscover S8™ was available at the cytometry service of the Diagonal Campus, where it has been operational for the past two years. The addition of a second instrument with the same capabilities at the Bellvitge Campus cytometry service brings this technology closer to researchers based at this campus, reduces the need for travel, and provides easier access to advanced cytometry services.
With this expansion, CCiTUB increases its capacity to meet the growing demand from research groups, improves service accessibility by offering a closer and more efficient response to users' needs, and reinforces its commitment to providing high-level scientific infrastructures for the research community.
