This activity deals with basic aspects of the NMR technique: main concepts, sample preparation, safety, acquisition in automatic mode and data processing with MNova. It provides access to the following equipment working on a self-service basis:
• Bruker 400 installed in the Faculty of Pharmacy
• Bruker 400 installed in the Faculty of Chemistry
To provide basic information on safety issues and use of NMR instrumentation, focusing on the following items:
- Safety in an NMR lab.
- Description of the Unitat de RMN lab. Alternatives to automatic equipment.
- Features and capabilities of the instrumentation, common experiments and basic parameters.
- Basic concepts of data processing with MNova software.
- Introduction to the use of automatic medium field NMR instrumentation (practical session).
All researchers requiring self-service access to the aforementioned equipment and meet the requirements.
Requirements
- 1. Be linked to a research group of the UB or Public Center as a master student, PhD student, post-doc or professor, or, being in possession of a degree, and be linked for at least one year to a company located in the PCB.
- 2. Be registered as a CCiTUB user. Proceed otherwise through Users tab at www.ccit.ub.edu.
- 3. Be registered as a Unitat de RMN user. Proceed otherwise through info@rmn.ub.edu and notify the previously assigned CCiTUB User Number.
- 4. Fill in the online registration form of the corresponding course (https://www.rmn.ub.es/es/usuarios/login.php) and deliver it signed to the Unitat de RMN.
Some background of NMR fundamentals would be recommendable (Friebolin book level and Claridge chapters 1-3).
Cost
The corresponding to 1 hour of Highly Qualified Technician according to current official rates of the UB.
Day October 28th, 29th and 30th of 2024
Location
Lectures: NMR Unit classroom located in the PCB Cluster building (C. Baldiri i Reixac 10 basement-1, door S1C33).
Bruker practical seminar: Bruker 400 lab at Pharmacy Faculty and Chemistry
