Animal studies have to be performed in accordance with the community legislation. In 1986, the EU adopted specific legislation on the use of animals for scientific purposes. On 22 September 2010, the 2010/63/UE1 Directive was published, which updates and replaces Directive 1986. The implementation of this new policy has been made in Spain through the Real Decreto 53/20132, in effect since February 2013.
The aim of the seminar is to provide information on the main elements of the new legislation in relation to the facilities, staff and experimental procedures, presenting and analyzing the most important aspects of the difficulties found in its application.
