Cytometry is a powerful tool for the study of the cell and its application in clinical and biomedical research is well established, while continuing to evolve technically. Advances in electronics, robotics, optics and miniaturization offer new technological development capabilities that directly impact the design of new instrumental equipment. This seminar will present the main features of the evolution of cytometric instrumentation, the highlights of the current instrumental equipment, and how the implementation of these new technological capabilities lead to the development of new applications of cytometry, either in the clinical field as in biomedical research.
