New infrared spectrometer “Frontier” in the CCiTUB

The Molecular Spectroscopy Technology of the CCiTUB since today October 1st has a new infrared instrument. The new infrared spectrometer “Frontier” works in the mid, near and far infrared regions (8000-225 cm-1) due to its CsI optics. The instrument has an attenuated total reflexion accessory (ATR) with diamond optics and a transmission bench. It is possible to work with solids, liquids and gases. The improvements compared with the IN10 Thermo system, also available in this unity, is the possibility to enlarge the measurement spectral ranges in the near and far infrared.

This instrument allows the analysis of inorganic and organic samples, especially those containing oxides and sulphurs, which could not be analyzed before with the old instrument.

Interested users can access to the new spectrometer by previously contacting the technicians of the Molecular Spectroscopy Technology.
