Rector visits the CCiTUB

Yesterday, September 16th, the official ceremony of inauguration of the new equipment acquired by the UB, and located in the CCiTUB, was held at the CCiTUB Building in Lluís Solé i Sabarís street.

The inauguration was presided by the Rector of the UB, Dr. Dídac Ramírez, the Vice-Rector for research, innovation and transfer, Dr. Jordi Alberch and the Director of the CCiTUB, Dr. José Ramón Seoane.

The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Joan Roca, coordinator of Excellence Campuses of the UB, Dr. Pere Lluís Cabot, Dean of the Chemistry Faculty, Dr. Atilà Herms, Dean of the Physics Faculty, Dr. Fèlix Urpí, Vice-Dean for Research and PhD of the Chemistry Faculty, Dr. Amílcar Labarta, Faculty of Physics Professor and Director of Nanotechnology and Nanoscience Institute (IN2UB), Dr. Manuel Barranco, Faculty of Physics Professor and previously BKC Director, Dr. David Ceballos, Head of the Rector Cabinet, Dr. Jordi Codina, UB General Manager, Mr. Xavier Meneses, Director of Research Area and Mr. Jordi Puig i Batalla, UB Works Director.

During the inauguration ceremony, the rector and the vice-rector as well as the CCiTUB Director spoke about the technical staff of the CCiTUB as an indispensable tool to ensure the optimal operation of the new equipment. They also emphasized the compromise of all staff to work closely with researchers to continue building the UB-Group project. The rector made an extensive visit to the facilities where the new equipments are located. At the CCiTUB Building of the Lluís Solé i Sabarís street, visited the new electron microprobe, the SEM microscopes, the ICP-MS spectrometer, the ICP-OES spectrometer and the new XRD diffractometer. At the Chemistry and Physics Faculty visited the facilities of RMN, the Micro and Nanotechnologies lab and, finally at the PCB, the Electron CryoMicroscopy and Separation techniques technologies where visited the high pressure cryofixation, the cryosubstitution and the cryoultramicrotomy equipment as well as the new mass spectrometers.
