New electron microprobe at the CCiTUB

The new electron microprobe JEOL JXA-8230 was installed in June this year and is now up and running. The microprobe is fitted with a tungsten filament and is equipped with 5 wavelength dispersive spectrometers, with 12 analyzing crystals, and 1 energy dispersive spectrometer with SDD technology. The instrument is also equipped with advanced accesory equiment such as a plasma cleaner system (EVACTRON) installed in the pre-chamber. Funding for the new electron microprobe was awarded through a grant from the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación in the framework of the LIA for scientific and technological infrastructures co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The electron microprobe is extensively used in many fields including metallugy, materials science, electronics, mineralogy, geology, etc..
