On 22th November, the MNAC inaugurated the exhibition entitled "El Museo Explora. Obras de arte a examen” which will be open until next February 24th, 2013.
The exhibition offers a journey that reveals mysteries, unmasks falses and gives a deeper understanding of some outstanding works from the collection of MNAC. At the same time this exhibition permits to discover the interdisciplinary research that the museum has made over the years, often in collaboration with external experts from different fields. The multidisciplinary nature of the CCiTUB has allowed several units of the Scientific and Technological Centers of the University of Barcelona to participate in some of the studies carried out by the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya. Pigments, binders, support materials and other compounds have been characterized to contribute to the knowledge of various art pieces before its restoration, or to study the process of its creation and possible frauds. The portfolio of services and industrial solutions of the CCiTUB is open to all areas of technology such as the Historical and Cultural Heritage / Conservation. The CCiTUB technologies that work for this area have participated in some of the studies of the MNAC . | |
