The objective is to introduce high school students to the field of nanotechnology and materials.
The program is aimed at students who are conducting their research project (R&D) in the field of nanotechnology. From CCiTUB, they will be provided with a theoretical basis and will work with scientific equipment such as transmission electron microscopes (TEM), scanning electron microscopes (SEM), confocal microscopes, atomic force microscopes (AFM), and they will be shown their applicability and some nanotechnology products.
The materials department will provide them with an overview of different material families, their properties, and applications using various characterization techniques such as tensile and hardness tests or identification of polymers using infrared spectroscopy (FTIR-ATR).
This stay is pre-university in nature and takes place in an intensive format during the mornings of the first week of July (July 3-7, from 10 am to 1 pm), when high school students are already in a non-teaching period. This stay must be requested by the students' tutors.
The attending students will receive a certificate of completion.
