The CCiTUB is once again organizing the 10alamenos9-Barcelona Festival, now in its eighth edition. The aim of the festival is to raise awareness and increase general knowledge of nanoscience and nanotechnology (N&N), showcasing the implications and scope of N&N through workshops, exhibitions, round tables, discussions, seminars, keynote speeches, science and art performances, and many other activities. To achieve this, we immerse high school and secondary school students in the nano world, the world of small things.
March 29th at COSMOCAIXA and April 26th at Centre Cívic Pere IV, 2023

Exhibition "Món nano: l'increïble món dels insectes" |
Location: March 29th, 11:30 - 14:00. COSMOCAIXA.
In this exhibition, tiny structures can be seen that cannot be seen with the naked eye. The exhibition is based on the micro and nanostructural analysis of different insects. Thus, the ommatidia that make up the eyes, the small hairs of some wings, the protuberances of others or the interior of a sectioned antenna of a cute bee can be observed, among other examples. Also on display are high-magnification images of everyday things, such as glitter, a grain of sea sand or human hair. In them we observe details that, without this microscopic vision, would have gone unnoticed.

Workshops |
Electron Microscopy, Diffraction and Atoms (LENS-MIND Group, IN2UB)
Place: MARCH 29th 11:30-14h. COSMOCAIXA.
The operation of transmission electron microscopy will be explained by analogy with a homemade "diffractor". This device is used to teach children that the thickness of very small objects can be measured by diffraction, this fact will be exemplified when we show them that they can measure the thickness of their hair. On the other hand, going further, we explain that by taking advantage of the wavelength of electrons we can see the crystalline structures of materials.
From the supermarket to home(CCiTUB)
Place: MARCH 29th 11:30-14h. COSMOCAIXA.
We will show some of the products and applications of nanotechnology already present in the market. Through simple and easy-to-understand experiments, we aim to bring the possibilities offered by nanotechnology closer to society. We will show attendees that nanotechnology is already present in everyday life through products that already contain nanotechnological applications, such as superhydrophobicity, ferrofluids or anti-fog materials, among others.
The hydrogen car
Place: MARCH 29th 11:30-14h. COSMOCAIXA.
Other workshops
Materialitza't
Place: MARCH 29th 11:30-14h. COSMOCAIXA.
This workshop is designed so that the visitor, attracted by everything surrounding Materials Science and Engineering, can interact with the different materials on display. At the same time, there will be, with some examples, a historical visualization of how some everyday object has evolved, thanks to science and scientists.

Augmented nanoreality
Place: MARCH 29th 11:30-14h. COSMOCAIXA.
We will take a trip to the nanoworld through augmented reality, a powerful communication tool that takes us on an unimaginable journey
By: Fundació OBICEX.
MicroscoRebled
Place: MARCH 29th 11:30-14h. COSMOCAIXA.
A microscope will be created in-situ from a water droplet, a wire and a laser. We will explore the biological material of different surfaces with the microscope.
By: CCiTUB.

Contests |
Place: MARCH 29th 11:30-14h. COSMOCAIXA.
CCiTUB will carry out a game through an interactive application, where students will have to guess what the images acquired at high magnifications shown to them correspond to. The winners will receive a gift from CCiTUB.

Nanoseminars |
Seminars of different specialists in Nanotechnology
Deciphering the enigma of neurons with graphene. COSMOCAIXA: 26 April
Place : Auditori
10 – 11h. Elisabet Prats Alfonso(CIBER, IMB-CNM) , Jordi Díaz Marcos(CCiTUB) & J.A Padilla (Departament de Materials i Químic Física de la UB)
Elisabet Prats Alfonso has a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Barcelona because she wanted to be like "those who wear a lab coat and do experiments". CIBER researcher at the Barcelona Microelectronics Institute has a clear objective: to convey her passion for science to the public in general, telling his secrets to all who come within range.
Little Show: AFM Man
Spectacle seminar where we will explore the invisible world of nanotechnologies through the tools that allow us to see it.
