New equipment in the IRMS laboratory

Two new equipment have recently been installed in the Isotopic Mass Spectrometry (IRMS) laboratory, which will now provide a better service to the users. Both equipments are already qualified for the operation and provision of service, and the funding in both cases comes from the call for the acquisition of scientific equipment FEDER 2018.

The installed equipment is:

- A Kiel IV, which corresponds to a device for the automatic analysis of carbonates. It is coupled to the existing high-precision MAT253 isotopic ratio mass spectrometer (IRMS) already existing in the unit.

- A new EA-IRMS equipment, which consists of an IRMS Flash coupled to a Delta V Advantage using the CONFLO IV interface. The equipment has been qualified with the CN configuration and offers elemental and isotopic analysis (13C, 15N) simultaneously in a wide variety of solid and liquid samples (plant and animal tissues, oils, solvents, sediments, filters , etc.).

These two instruments are now available to the users in the Isotopic Relation Mass Spectrometry (IRMS) laboratory, which is located in the historical CCiTUB Building at Lluís Solé i Sabarís 1-3 street.
