3rt Edition of NanoInventum. Last Session 2018/2019

Next Tuesday, June 4, at the Faculties of Chemistry and Biology of the University of Barcelona, will take place the final day of NanoInventum. The work of the students and teachers of primary who have carried out the design and manufacture of a nanorobot will be showed there. In this edition, the third one, five schools have participated with 8 groups and more than 200 students.

The day, sponsored by Lubrizol -Lipotec, will begin at the Faculty of Chemistry with a small exhibition at the Solar Atrium where children will be exposed all their inventions to resolve future challenges such as pollution of the oceans, the cure of diseases so far incurable , etc.

Next, in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Biology, the small researchers may interview Dr. Anna Roig, from the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC), and Dr. Mercè Segarra, Vice-dean of Research and Transfer of the Faculty of Chemistry and professor of the Department of Materials Science and Physical Chemistry of the University of Barcelona. Later, also in the Aula Magna, the awards ceremony will take place that will close a year of work in schools to introduce science to the youngest.

Nanoinventum

Nanoinventum is a pedagogical proposal born to bring the world of science and nanotechnology closer to elementary students. Again a project started in the CCiTUB become a collaborative one, with the help of other institutions, in order to do a more complete job and reach a greater number of students. The Center for Specific Pedagogical Resources for Support to Innovation and Educational Research (CESIRE), the Bioengineering Institute of Catalonia (IBEC) and the scientific communication company, "Connecta Ciencia" , are participating in the project.

The faculty of the schools initially receive a training in nanotechnology with the help of CCiTUB technicians and other collaborators (CESIRE, IBEC, Connecta Ciencia). In addition, they are given the "NanoExplora" briefcase with the necessary material so that children can learn the basics of nanotechnology. Once the children have received this training, they must try to solve a scientific challenge. To do this, they must design and build a nanorobot documenting their project.

On Tuesday, June 4, we will be able to see what technological wonders have devised future researchers.
