On 1st of June took place the 21th aptitude essay on organic elementary analysis in the ‘Instituto Universitario Mixto de Tecnología Química’ (ITQ) of the the Universitat Politècnica de València. The goal of these essays is to be an indicator of the quality of the tested analyses in the different laboratories that collaborate. From the CCiTUB have participated technicians of the Isotopic Ratio Mass Spectrometry and Separative Techniques technologies. Although initially only the organic elemental analysis (AEO) data was studied, the isotopic data is now also evaluated. It is for this reason that the organization of the tests, MatControl, has proposed to Mrs. Rosa M.Marimon to be part of the organizing committee. It was her, together with PhD. Pilar Teixidor, who introduced the isotopic studies in the essays of 2006. For this reason, next year the the name of the essays will change to "22nd aptitude assay on organic and isotopic elemental analysis". Three new samples have been chosen for studies of the next year: 1.- Pure chemical compound (chosen by the organizing committee) 2.- A surfactant (proposed by the participants) 3.- Also proposed by the participants: Vegetable sample. This sample has already been analyzed in previous years. The laboratories will have to analyze not only the new sample but also the one they had from the previous trial, in this way a stability study can be done with the idea of being able to obtain a secondary pattern. Results of the essays The results of the analysis obtained by the units of the CCiTUB have been very satisfactory and are available to those who wish to consult them. These results will also be used internally as an indicator of the quality of the analysis done in the CCiTUB, and contribute to having the ISO 9001 certification in our laboratories. |
