This year, “Biblioteques de Barcelona” will host a new conference series called “Feynman i l’evolució de la ciència al segle XX” that will take place from January till March. The series contain eight conferences which will be carried out by different experts in nanotechnology, physics, chemistry and scientific journalists and will take place in four public libraries in Barcelona: Vila de Gràcia, Sagrada Família, El Clot and Camp de l’Arpa. The conferences are focused on the life of the American physicist Richard Feynman, awarded with Nobel Prize in Physics for his contributions in the world of science in the various projects where he was a participant, such as the Manhattan project and the atomic bomb. In addition, his predictions about nanotechnology gave him the pseudonym of father of this scientific discipline. This series of conferences have been organised by the CCiTUB by the person responsible for the technology of Nanometric Techniques, Dr. Jordi Díaz, who will also impart the 7th conference called “L’origen de la nanotecnologia” which will take place on Monday, March 5 at 7pm at the El Clot – Josep Benet library in Barcelona. The inaugural conference of the series will be carried out by Mr. Claudi Mans, professor emeritus of the UB, in the Vila de Gràcia library and the second conference by Mr. Francesc Xavier Giménez, professor of chemistry of the UB, in the Sagrada Família library.
