Cosmetics is one of the sectors where nanotechnologies have had the greatest impact in recent years and, for this reason, it was the first to be regulated by the European Union in terms of the use of these products. Currently, those cosmetic products that contain nanomaterials in their formulation, must make the word 'nano' appear on their labeling. This fact has created some controversy in the sector due to the fear of rejection by consumers. The research centers and Universities as well as the companies in the sector are committed to ensuring that the public's perception of nano products is one of trust and confidence.

The objective of the day is to demonstrate that you can work safely with nanoproducts, demonstrate that the cosmetic products that contain them are safe products, teach tools to work safely with them and face the debate on the toxicological studies that are being carried out. doing.

We will also talk about cross-cutting issues, but very useful for the sector (RRI, Intelligent Design, recycling, life cycle, etc.).

From the CCiTUB we will focus on the importance of nanocharacterization, which allows us not only to know the characteristics of nano products, but also to teach us how to manipulate them safely.

In addition, various companies in the sector will explain what have been the contributions of nanotechnology to the development of their products. There will also be an open debate space to talk about the future of the cosmetic sector and the role that nanotechnology can have to favor its consolidation, growth and improvement.

We will conclude the day by presenting results on nanomaterials that will help us understand how to work with them safely in the cosmetic sector.
