Last May 9th, the awards ceremony of the 2017 edition of the NanoEduca Posters/Videos Contest was held at the Auditorium of the historic building of the University of Barcelona, within the framework of the Festival of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology 10alamenos9. The students of 26 groups from 12 centers of secondary school across Catalonia participated at this contest. These students had to make a video answering a question or a challenge that showed the applications and implications of nanotechnology in the areas of art, science, technology, daily life, health, environment, etc. Further, each center had to present a scientific poster and defend it in front of a court. The participating schools were: l'Institut Agustí Serra (Sabadell), Center Escolar Empordà (Roses), Institut Font de Ferro (Palafolls), Institut Front Marítim (Barcelona), Escola GEM (Mataró), Escola Guinardó (Barcelona), Institut Joan Brossa (Barcelona), Institut Joan Mercader (Igualada), Institut Mercè Rodoreda (L'Hospitalet de Llobregat), Institut Salvador Dalí (El Prat de Llobregat), Institut Sant Andreu (Sant Andreu de la barca), Institut Valldemossa (Barcelona). Of all the proposals presented, the best video was "Biotoxicitat NP plata" of the Institut Valldemossa de Barcelona; and the video with most visualizations was "Toxicitat de les nanoparticles" of the Institut Joan Brossa of Barcelona. Regarding the poster, the winner was "Applications of Nanoparticles Magnètiques in Tractaments Oncològics no Invasius" of the Guinardó School of Barcelona. The responsible of Nanometric Techniques technology, Dr. Jordi Díaz, and the Director of the CCiTUB, Dr. José Ramón Seoane, attended the awards ceremony. | |
