New Website for Research Committee Support

Researchers now have access to a new section on our website dedicated to Research Committee Support, aimed at improving access to information and facilitating the procedures and formalities required for the development of their research activity

This new space provides structured information about the unit that coordinates and supports the committees involved in research with humans, animals, and biological agents.

The section allows researchers to easily identify which committee is competent depending on the type of study, as well as to access specific information about each of them. It also includes a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section offering practical guidance on common procedures, requirements, and the steps to follow when submitting applications.

The creation of this new space responds to the need to centralize and make information more accessible, while strengthening the support offered to the research community in matters of ethics, biosafety, and regulatory compliance. In this way, it contributes to facilitating the development of research in accordance with good practices.

In Vivo Experimentation Unit and Research Committee Support

In 2024, the University of Barcelona integrated into a single service, Research Committee Support (SCR), the services that had previously been offered by three different units: support for the Animal Experimentation Ethics Committee, the Bioethics Committee, and the Biosafety Committee. This integration helps simplify and streamline the administrative processes associated with research.

The service centralizes all administrative procedures related to the different stages of research projects, offering a single point of contact for researchers. It has staff with specialized training in bioethics, biosafety, and animal experimentation, facilitates coordination with the various committees, and ensures the ethical and regulatory compliance of projects.

The launch of this new service coincided with the unification of the Animal Experimentation Units at the University of Barcelona, which have since been managed jointly. Both the new service and the In Vivo Experimentation Unit form the current In Vivo Experimentation Unit and Research Committee Support, led by Dr. Teresa Rodrigo as Head of Unit and managed by the Scientific and Technological Centers.
