06.03.2026New GC/MS Equipment, Shimadzu QP2020NX
As part of the continuous improvement of analytical infrastructures, the Applied Mass Spectrometry-Isotopic Analysis Unit (EMAI) has recently renewed one of its GC/MS instruments.
This new Shimadzu QP2020NX system, available for the analysis of volatile and semi-volatile organix compounds in differents matrices, stands out for offering high sensitivity (very low background) and for enabling FastGC/MS, reducing analysis time and increasing analytical efficiency.
The study of volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds is essential because many of them have an impact on health, the enviroment and the quality of products and food. Their detection requires highly sensitive instrument, since most are present at very low concentrations (trace or ultratrace) and in very diverse matrices that require highly specific sample preparation.
The new instrument is available at the EMAI Unit facilities located in the main CCiTUB building on Lluís Solé i Sabarís street.
