On January 29 and 30, the Scientific and Technological Centers of the University of Barcelona (CCiTUB) presented their nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) services available through the European infrastructure Instruct-ERIC during the workshop “Integrative Structural Biology in the new Instruct ES Center”. The event took place at the Institute of Physical-Chemistry Blas Cabrera (CSIC) and featured the participation of Dr. J. F. Sangüesa, director of the CCiTUB, along with researchers Dr. M. Pons and Dr. B. Mateos from the University of Barcelona.
The Instruct-ES Worshop celebrated the expansion of the Spanish Instruct-ES center, which is consolidating as a strategic node within the European Instruct ERIC network and strengthening its role in research on biological processes at the molecular and atomic scale. This expansion has been made possible through the recent incorporation of the CCiTUB, together with the Institute of Molecular Biology of Barcelona and the ALBA Synchrotron, into the Instruct-Barcelona node. “Joining InstructES is the result of the University of Barcelona and the CCiTUB’s commitment to unique scientific services, particularly in this case to high‑field NMR,” highlights J. F. Sangüesa.
The event brought together experts in NMR, cryoEM, and X ray techniques from various institutions, who, through scientific presentations and open discussions, examined how collaboration between centers and shared access to advanced infrastructures can boost research.
“We are deeply committed to fostering an integrated community that merges cutting-edge methods with talent to solve the most pressing challenges in modern biology”, concludes Dr. B. Mateos during the presentation of the next generation high-field services available at the CCiTUB.
The NMR services offered by the CCiTUB through Instruct-ERIC focus on two areas of expertise:
• Intrinsically Disordered Proteins (IDPs)
• Drug Discovery (covering both fragment-based approaches and biologics)
