Final Event of Nanoinventum

On May 28th, the Casinet de les Cotxeres de Sants hosted the closing ceremony and awards presentation of the tenth edition of the Nanoinventum program.

More than 400 students from 11 different schools came together to present their nanorobot models to a jury in the hope of winning the award for the best model. The students has been working on the models throughout the school year.

The event concluded with the awards ceremony led by Marta Feliu, Vice-rector for Doctoral Studies, Trainee Research Staff, Talent Attraction and Dissemination of the University of Barcelona. The awards for the best models were as follows:

  • Nanobuà (Escola Duran i Bas)
  • Nanoaigua (Escola La Florida)
  • NanoCúpula (Escola La Llacuna)
  • Nanodaltònic (Escola La Llacuna)
  • Megs (Escola Arenal) / Ex aequao: Nanomúscul ( Escola Vapor i Molí)
  • Nanoblurred (Escola Vapor i Molí)
  • Nanoestrèllic (Escola Mestre Morera)
  • Yeseclean-Nosmore (Escola Tecnos)

In addition to the winning models, schools received special awards recognizing different aspects of their projects:

  • University of Barcelona Award for unique schools: Escola 30 Passos, Escola Duran i Bas, Escola Vapor i Molí.
  • CCiTUB Award for best fair and model presentation: Escola Arenal
  • CosmoCaixa Award for outstanding schools: Escola Lavinia, Escola Tecnos, Escola La Florida.
  • IN2UB Award for the most nanoscientific schools: Escola Llacuna del Poblenou, Escola El Sol i la Lluna
  • “La Científica” Award for the most technological school: Escola Llacuna del Poblenou
  • ICMAB Award for the most original materials: Escola Madorell
  • CESIRE Award for best use of educational resources: Escola Mestre Morera

About Nanoinventum

Nanoinventum is a project developed by the Scientific and Technological Centers of the University of Barcelona (CCiTUB), in collaboration with the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) and the Department of Education of the Government of Catalonia (CESIRE and STEAMcat). The project includes teacher training, hands-on experimentation with the Nanoexplora experiment kit by students, mentoring by experts in nanotechnology (Nanoexperta), and the use of creative tools to explore nanotechnology and the sustainability challenges of the 2030 Agenda in the classroom.
