The CCiTUB participated in drafting Safety Guides of the Nuclear Safety Council (CSN)

Again, the CCiTUB through PhD. Immaculada Rafecas, head of the Radiological Protection Technical Unit, participated in the preparation of the review of a CSN Saftety Guide entitled “Seguridad y protección radiològica de las instalaciones radiactivas de gammagrafia industrial”.

This review, with reference Gs-05.14 Revision 1, has finally been approved by the Plenary Session of the Nuclear Safety Council at its meeting on 8 January 2015. The content of this guide is focused on the industrial gammagrafy, which is a nondestructive testing method based on the differential absorption of penetrating gamma radiation by the inspected object. This method is used in the inspection and quality control of welds, pipes, various metal parts, tanks and civil construction.

The Radiological Protection Technical Unit of the CCiTUB participates regularly in the review of Guide and Safety Instructions of this organism, CSN, which is the only state agency in the field of radiation protection. The CCiTUB provide feedback to improve the adequacy of the rules of any situation being regulated, due to his extensive experience in the management of radioactive facilities of second and third category, as well as X-ray medical diagnosis.
