Joining the AccessCat network

The Scientific and Technological Centers of the University of Barcelona (CCiTUB) are one of the entities adhered to the Catalan Network for Innovation in Accessibility: Media, Education and Culture (AccessCat) R+D+i network that aims to be a benchmark in accessibility to information and communication.

The network, funded by the Department of Research and Universities of the Generalitat de Catalunya, is made up of 12 research groups from 8 Catalan institutions, with a total of more than 170 members and more than 40 entities supporting it.

Participating institutions include the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), also coordinating entity of the network, the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), the Universitat de Vic - Universitat Central de Catalunya (UVic-UCC) and the Fundació i2Cat.

AccessCat Network

From 1 January 2023 and for a period of three years, the AccessCat Network will work to become a benchmark in the field of accessibility to information and communication, particularly in the fields of culture, education and the media, and will promote transfer and innovation activities.

Planned activities include offering a portfolio of services from the network's research groups and training in the field through the MAP platform (Media Accessibility Platform). The network will also provide training to companies and external organizations on information and communication accessibility, as well as demonstrations or showcases to raise awareness and propose solutions in the field of accessibility. The network will also support its members in finding breakthrough solutions to accessibility problems, raising awareness of accessibility, internationalizing research and participating in international missions, fairs and transfer actions .
