13.06.2023The CCiTUB join the Platform of Biobanks and Biomodels of the ISCIII
The Animal Experimentation Unit of the CCiTUB has been incorporated as an affiliated unit to Hub de Models Animals of the ISCIII Biobanks and Biomodels Platform (PISCIIIBB).
The objective of the platform is to become a national and international model as a scientific, technological, and regulatory infrastructure, with the mission of providing quality and cutting-edge services to facilitate and advance the cycle from basic research to clinical application. The Animal Models Hub, which has 18 affiliated units distributed nationwide, offers quality services in conducting experimental models and/or experimental techniques in a wide variety of animal species.
The ISCIII Biobanks and Biomodels Platform is also part of the European Biobanking Infrastructure (BBMRI-ERIC) as an observer member, acting as the national node within BBMRI-ERIC, one of the most relevant research platforms in the European Union.
Animal Experimentation Unit
The Animal Experimentation Unit of the CCiTUB is distributed across four campuses of the University of Barcelona, encompassing over 18,000 m2 of dedicated spaces to support research conducted by the University itself and other public or private institutions. The Unit has specialized technical personnel to ensure the welfare conditions of the animals, and any project must undergo prior review and authorization by the Animal Experimentation Ethics Committee of the University of Barcelona to guarantee compliance with all legal and ethical standards associated with animal use for experimentation.
