New generation equipment for proteomics in biomedical research
The University of Barcelona, through the CCiTUB, has participated in two projects for the acquisition of new instruments for proteomics in biomedical research. These two projects are the result of the collaboration of the University of Barcelona and other institutions dedicated to research, and will allow UB researchers to have equipment with greater sensitivity and speed to carry out protein studies.
The acquired infrastructures are of new generation, and allow to deepen in the search of biomarkers of different diseases, to work with more detail and of faster way at the level of proteins, and will allow to advance towards a more personalized medicine. With this new infrastructure, researchers will be able to delve deeper into the study of the proteome, as a set of proteins expressed in cells that perform cellular functions. It will also be possible to analyze in more depth the variation of proteins in different processes, whether due to drug activity or different diseases.
These infrastructures have been co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union, within the framework of the FEDER Operational Program of Catalonia 2014-2020.
Equipment acquired and access mode
The instruments acquired are as follows:
• Orbitrap Eclipse ™ Tribrid ™ Mass Spectrometer mass spectrometer that includes a quadrupole, a linear ion trap, and a state-of-the-art Orbitrap, with ionization source by TRIVERSA NANOMATE chip technology EVOSEP chromatograph.
• Orbitrap Eclipse ™ Tribrid ™ Mass Spectrometer mass spectrometer, which includes a quadrupole, a linear ion trap, and a state-of-the-art Orbitrap, with an Easy Spray source and Easy 1200 HPLC.
