PhD. Jordi Guinea y Mejías retires.

On April 30th, Jordi Guinea y Mejías, Head of the Animal Experimentation Unit (UEA) of Biology Faculty, will retire.

Doctor in Biology, he has been working at the University of Barcelona, specifically at the UEA of Biology, since 1998. Previously, he was an associate professor. As of 2004, he became part of the Scientific and Technical Services, called Scientific and Technological Centers since 2010, where he was also secretary of the Ethical Committee for Animal Experimentation (CEEA) on two occasions.

One of his contributions to research within the University of Barcelona was the creation of the wet stables, especially with the arrival of large-volume tanks that allowed the accommodation of larger fish on which there was no previous experience at the University of Barcelona.

As of April 30, Jordi begins a stage where he can dedicate his time to himself, his family and other activities. The term retirement comes from "jubilae" which means "to enjoy" and, now, it is time to enjoy life without haste, or clock.

We want to thank our colleague Jordi with all our heart, his dedication during all these years as well as his effort and continued work, his companionship, professionalism and excellent treatment towards users and colleagues.

A toast, for you Jordi! Enjoy!
