The Equality Commission of the CCiTUB full member of the Equality Commission of the University of Barcelona

At the meeting of the Equality Commission of the University of Barcelona on April 7, the acceptance of the Equality Commission and Social Action (CIAS) of the CCiTUB as full member. The members of the Commission unanimously concluded the equating with the rest of the Commissions of the Faculties. From now on, the CIAS will have voice and vote on the decisions that may be taken within the Commission.

This recognition will make it possible to defend, from the CIAS, issues related to equality and gender policy, to have resources to carry out activities related to the areas that belongs to and to be able to fully implement the protocol of action for sexual harassment, if necessary. And all this, from the uniqueness of the CCiTUB as a center made up of a majority of PAS staff and research support.

This recognition responds to the will of the Vice-Rector for Equality and Gender, Dr. Montserrat Puig Llobet, to include the request for recognition in the agenda of the last meeting of the Equality Committee of the University of Barcelona.

On the other hand, the recognition takes place coinciding with the renewal of the members of the CIAS, as indicated in its regulations, after two years of being constituted. Also, the position of Coordination passes from Mrs. Eva Jané Parra, current Head of Management and Administration of the CCiTUB and promoter of the creation of the CIAS, to Mrs. Maria Barba Ferrer who already attended as a new coordinator of the aforementioned meeting of the Equality Commission on April 7th.

Commission for Equality and Social Action

The Commission for Equality and Social Action of the CCiTUB was set up on February 22nd of 2019 and is a commission under the Equality Unit of the University of Barcelona. It is governed by internal regulations that were drafted by the members of the commission, reviewed by the Legal Services of the University and approved by the former Vice-Rector for Equality and Social Action of the University of Barcelona, Dra. Maite Vilalta on September 20th of 2019.

The main objectives of the commission are to apply gender perspective to all activities and procedures of the Centers, to promote the protocol of prevention and action against sexual harassment, gender identity, sexual orientation and sexist behaviors of the University of Barcelona and drive the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the 2030 Agenda.
