New secretary of the Ethical Committee for Animal Experimentation

PhD Lara Sedó, head of the Animal facilities Unit of Medicine Campus Casanova and Sant Joan de Déu, was named Secretary of the Ethical Committee of Animal Experimentation of the University of Barcelona by the Vice-Rector for Research, Dr. Domènec Espriu, on 6 July.

The position, of a rotational nature, has as functions those entrusted by current legislation and in particular reflecting the proceedings of the sessions, issuing certifications of approved agreements, sending the certifications of projects evaluated to the Generalitat de Catalonia, and other attributions granted to it by the regulations

Ethics Committee for Animal Experimentation of the University of Barcelona

The UB Ethics Committee for Animal Experimentation (CEEA-UB) was created in 1998 in order to comply with Decree 214/1997 of 30 July of the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Generalitat de Catalunya, which regulates the use of animals for experimentation and other scientific purposes.

The CEEA-UB was authorized a Competent Body by the Generalitat de Catalunya, in order to be able to evaluate projects as well, on August 1, 2016.
