27.02.2019The CCiTUB Commission for Equality and Social Action has been constituted
On Friday, February 22, the Commission for Equality and Social Action of the Scientific and Technological Centers was constituted in a ceremony, in the classroom of the main building of Carrer Lluís Solé i Sabarís, which was attended by all the members of the new commission. Director of the CCiTUB, Dr. J. R.Seoane, attended the meeting and expressed his intention to make the Centers a referent within the university community in equality and social values.
Main objectives of the commission are to incorporate the gender perspective into all activity and procedures of the CCiTUB, as well as to promote the protocol of harassment and sexist attitudes of the University of Barcelona, centralizing and instructing complaints, from workers and users, of the CCiTUB to process them.
It will also strive to promote the goals of sustainable development (ODS) in Agenda 2030 following the 17 objectives set by the UN, such as solidarity, health, the environment, etc.
The CCiTUB equality committee depends directly on the Universitat de Barcelona's Equality Unit and has been possible thanks to the commitment of the Vice President for Equality and Social Action, Dr. Maite Vilalta and the rest of the members of the Equality Commission of the University of Barcelona.
Mrs. Eva Jané, operational coordinator of the CCiTUB and project promoter, will be the first coordinator of the committee that is made up of technical personnel and personal management. All the members that are part of it have the duty of stealth and will ensure that it is effective. There will be total transparency in the actions that will be carried out and a strategic plan will be presented that will finally allow the monitoring and evaluation of the work done by the commission.
The committee will be governed by an internal regulations that will soon be approved by the members of the committee, this regulation is based on the general regulations of the UB unit of equality, and has been adapted to the CCiTUB. The members of the committee have been chosen according to the criterion of participation and on the basis of requirements established in other equality commissions UB: parity, multidisciplinarity, rotary position (designation for two years) and personnel without any current labor conflict.
March 8, women's day
As the first actions, the Equality Commission is preparing some activities aimed at women's day that will take place on March 8 and that are open to the entire university community. They are the following:
On March 6th at 12h (duration of one hour) and at the CCiTUB Classroom by Lluís Solé i Sabarís 1-3, 1st floor, the work "Tres guineas de chocolate o Virgínia y La Paz" will be performed.On the other hand, on April 1 at 12 o'clock the General Director of Social Services of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Ms. Meritxell Benedí, will give a talk with dynamics on the gender perspective. The room where the talk will be held is still pending confirmation and will be informed shortly.
