Representatives of Generalitat visit the ICTS at the CCiTUB

Yesterday, Francesc Xavier Grau, secretary of Universitats i Recerca and Joan Gómez Pallarés, general director of Research of the Generalitat of Catalonia, visited the two ICTS of the Scientific and Technological Centers of the University of Barcelona together with the Vice-Rector for Research of the UB, Domènec Espriu, the president of the Social Council of the UB, Joan Corominas, the general director of the PCB, Maria Terrades, and the Director of the Research Area of the UB, Xavier Meneses.

Accompanied by J. Ramón Seoane, Director of the Scientific and Technological Centers of the UB, they accessed the NMR Unit of the CCiTUB, located in the Cluster building of the Barcelona Science Park. This Unit houses the facilities that were already qualified as ICTS in the year 2000, and that have now been renewed this qualification, becoming part of the ICTS called Network of Bio-molecules NMR laboratories network. During the visit they were able to see some of the great equipment that makes possible, among others, advanced studies in molecular, cellular and genetic biology.

The visit of the representatives of the Generalitat continued at the headquarters of the CCiTUB, where they accessed part of the facilities of the second ICTS, the transmission electron microscopy Unit, now recognized as a node within the ICSI ELECMI (integrated infrastructure of Electron Microscopy of Materials). In one of the TEM microscopes they saw the possibilities offered by these instruments to research.

The representatives of the Generalitat highlighted the scientific and technical knowledgment of the research support technicians that facilitate the optimal use of this large equipment for the benefit of all researchers.
