The CCiTUB have participated in the characterization of a new mineral named abellaite, which was aproved by the IMA-CNMC on December 2015 (IMA 2014-11). Specifically, Dr. Xavier Llovet carried out the corresponding electron microprobe analyses. It is the first time that a new mineral is described whose discovery location is a mine located in Catalonia.
