New service of radiation of biological samples

The Technical Unit of Radiation Protection of the Scientific and Technological Centers offers to all researchers a biological irradiator equipment (J.L Shepherd & Associates, model Mark 1-30). This new service is the result of the agreement between the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) and the CCiTUB.

This equipment, located in the Faculty of Medicine, has the capacity to irradiate different types of "in vitro" biological samples and "in vivo" small laboratory animals in a very homogeneous way throughout its volume.

Currently you can apply for the irradiation of biological samples such as cultured cells used in pharmacological studies, among other applications in the field of biomedicine.

The animal irradiation service is expected to be accessible in a few weeks. Irradiation of immunodeficient mice is a basic step in hemato-oncology studies, transplantation and immunology.
